Murphy USA: Save $.10/Gallon of Gas through 9/30

Hmmm...not sure how this slipped by me, but luckily came across this deal in my pre-road trip research.

Through September 30, 2011, you can save 10 cents a gallon on fuel at participating Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations by using a reloadable Walmart gift card, reloadable Walmart MoneyCard or Walmart credit card.

You can read more details and find participating locations here.

Guess I'm going to go buy a Walmart gift card and fill up my tank! :)

How to Prepare for a Roadtrip, Bargain-Style!

I'm headed out on a roadrip with my brother and sister-in-law soon, so I thought I'd share with you some of my ideas for doing it Bargain Barton-Style! ;)

1.  Raid your stock pile for snacks!
As you can see from my shopping trips, I have tons of granola bars and pop.  I've also been picking up cheap candy, nuts, and other snacks.  This should help cut back on gas station purchases.

2.  Sign up for restaurant e-clubs ahead of time and print coupons.
We don't have the fine dining establishments of Cici's, Jack in the Box, and The Waffle House near us, but I know those will be staples in our road trip.  I'm signing up for their e-mail clubs about a week before heading out in hopes of scoring some new sign up coupons!

3.  Get certificates from Restaurant.com
Look up restaurants in the cities you'll be staying in on restaurant.com.  You can check out reviews on yelp.  Go through shopathome.com to earn 24% cash back and check retailmenot.com for coupon codes.  (There's always a code for anywhere between 40-80% off.)  You'll save tons on dining out and might discover something you would not have otherwise found.

4.Keep your eye out for gas station coupons and print them before you leave.  Some places to look include:
AM/PM's Facebook Page-see "coupons & offers"
Murphy USA-sign up for e-offers here
Pilot Travel Centers' Facebook page-posts coupons
Thornton's Facebook page-posts coupons

Have any other tips to share?

CVS: Earn a $10 Gas Card Every Week! (May 22-Aug. 28)

Drug Store News posted the following article here:

CVS/pharmacy is helping its shoppers save money on gas this summer with a new program that enables customers to earn free gas by purchasing select items at its stores nationwide.

With gas prices reaching $4 per gallon nationally, CVS/pharmacy is offering members of its ExtraCare Rewards program the ability to earn one $10 gift card to Exxon/Mobil, Shell, BP Amoco or BP Arco every week by spending $30 on specially marked items found in the weekly CVS/pharmacy circular. The program runs from May 22 to Aug. 28.

All of the qualifying products will be tagged with a "Get Free Gas" icon to make them easily identifiable. Eligible items will rotate each week.

Once ExtraCare customers reach the $30 required purchase threshold, a special coupon will print on their receipt that can be redeemed immediately in store for a $10 gas card. If customers prefer to wait to redeem their coupon, they have up to 30 days to do so. There is a limit of one redemption per week for each ExtraCare cardholder.

Thornton's Gas: $5 for Every $25

I read about this deal over at MashupMom.  Through June 19, get an additional $5 e-gift card for every $25 e-gift card you buy. (E-gift cards are sent over e-mail and you print them out.)  You can buy them here.
*Rachel over at MashupMom was able to trade in all her paper E-gift cards into a plastic one at the station to use right at the pump.

Their list of locations is here.  They have 160 locations in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.  I found out that I have one in the next town over!  It'll be worth driving the extra few miles to save 20% on gas!

If you take advantage of this deal, head over to their Facebook page to print a coupon for free sun drop or cookie.

I'm no longer seeing it advertised.  Maybe it got pulled? :(

(Thanks, MashupMom!)
